Education is an issue of national competence, not governed by EU law and as such, the responsibility lies on the member-states to regulate issues in this field.
One of those issues is also the higher education, and most particularly students, which is an issue of particular concern to Cyprus, as a member-state with an important student community in the British universities.
According to public information, British government has decided that all EU students currently studying in the UK’s academic institutions and those that will enroll during the year 2019 will continue enjoying the same status as regards their fees (home fee status) as now, until the completion of their current studies. There is no information yet on the future regime, that is after 2020. The same arrangements will also apply for the EU loan.
